Lack of time may be the number one thing that stops people from enjoying gardening, and it’s something I get asked about regularly.

In episode 009 I share a few simple ways to grow food in small spaces, and mentioned that a lot time and space were two things most people thought was needed to grow a thriving garden…and maybe money too!

But you don’t need a lot of these, you just need a few basic ideas and simple sustainable techniques to grow and enjoy gardening.

A few years ago I was inspired to write an article on this topic, after reading research for my Horticultural Therapy studies, on the health benefits from just 30 minutes, a few times a week in the garden.

I wanted to share a list of many activities that could be completed in just 30 minutes of gardening, or relaxing, time.

You’ll find the full article here -

There are many wonderful things that you can enjoy in the garden and in this episode I share a few suggestions, including;

  • Propagating new plants
  • Weeding your garden
  • Planting seedlings
  • Harvesting a meal or some fresh herbs
  • Planting a tree, or two
  • Creating a compost pile
  • Fertilising plants
  • Cut a bunch of bananas
  • Watering your garden

These all improve physical and psychological wellbeing and a perfect for any age or ability.

I’ve mentioned these links to access for more information…

I hope you enjoyed this episode and you’re now inspired to head outdoors and enjoy a relaxing time in your garden…amongst a busy day!

Gardeners and food producers know the fabulous satisfaction in harvesting and sharing fresh food from their gardens and farms.

But at times we find an over-abundance of produce and want to share it with others.

This is where Spare Harvest helps!!

In this episode I’m joined by Helen Andrew, who established Spare Harvest after continuous years of excess fruit on her citrus trees and having to compost and bury the fruit as she didn’t know who or where to share it within her community.

We discuss…

  • When Helen realised she needed to take action on this waste of healthy food.
  • How she established Spare Harvest.
  • What members are sharing.
  • The locations around the world that members are located.
  • Wonderful connections that people are forming through listings.
  • How you can register and get started for FREE!

I’ll be downloading the Spare Harvest app now!

To become a member of Spare Harvest and create your first listing OR search through listings for locally grown foods and other goodies, head to
